The Riviera del Brenta region of Italy, just outside Venice, has long been synonymous with the world’s finest footwear. At the heart of the region, representing a longstanding tradition of elegance, artistry and quality, is one name, Baldan.
The brothers Baldan were pioneers in the region when they first opened their factory in 1948. With the region’s tradition of producing fine leathers and fabrics, they saw an opportunity to realise their vision of creating the finest women’s shoes in the world. Baldan was soon hand-crafting styles for some of the world’s most storied fashion houses.
Though the company has grown to create styles for over 400 boutiques worldwide, the shoes are still made by a small team of skilled artisans. With techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation, about 50 artisans create each shoe by hand. They now blend these time-honoured techniques with state-of-the-art technology, fusing a tradition of old-world quality with cutting-edge innovation.
